How to monetize your channel. How to enable monetization on YouTube: step-by-step instructions

Now we will talk about how to enable monetization on this resource. There is nothing complicated here, but there are several nuances that you need to know and take into account. There are only two ways to enable monetization on YouTube.

Working through media networks

Working through media networks is the easiest option. You just need to register in the media network, apply for connection, after which you will need to connect your channel. No further action is required from you. The conditions under which they will work with your channel are generally the same, but each media network has its own nuances.

The only negative here is that the media network will take a percentage of your earnings, which can reach up to 30%. But the conditions here are most often softer than when you connect monetization yourself; in addition, there is technical support, training webinars are held, etc.

There are many media networks for YouTube, the most famous and reliable are VSP, YUDK and AIR.

You will need an AdSense account; I wrote about this contextual advertising system in this article. Set up an AdSense account, enter the correct information there (this is important), then go to your YouTube channel, open the “Status and Features” menu and in the “Monetization” section, click “Enable”.

There is nothing complicated here, and there are no special nuances that need to be paid attention to. Any user, even those who are not very experienced, can complete all the steps and enable monetization on YouTube using Google AdSense. However, it is not enough to complete all these steps, you also need to get your channel accepted, but here everything is much more interesting and complicated.

There is also an opinion that for Russia (and for a number of other countries) there is stricter moderation, which is true. For example, if you specify any Western European country in the settings, then sometimes you can be enabled for monetization on YouTube without any moderation at all.

If you did not pass moderation the first time, then you need to either develop your channel and try later, or try changing the country in the settings. You also must not have any copyright or community guidelines violations, but you will be notified of this on the very first screen when you apply.

Monetization of your YouTube channel will occur through AdSense, where there are restrictions on withdrawal of money. The minimum amount is 100 US dollars. That is, if you earn 150–200 rubles a month, then you will wait a very long time for payment. For small channels, this is a significant disadvantage, on the one hand, but on the other hand, it motivates you to work more actively on new videos.

What to choose

As I wrote above, media networks have a significant disadvantage - they take a percentage of your income for intermediation. But their payment threshold is much lower than 100 dollars (it can be 50 rubles). Also, the so-called “gray” YouTube channels (they post other people’s content) often collaborated with media networks. But recently, media networks have encountered certain problems and complaints from Google, so they have begun to take a tougher approach to moderation. They filter out “gray” channels in almost 100% of cases and look more closely at the quality of content from everyone else.

The percentage for mediation with a media network may well be compensated by higher income from advertising (since it is set up by professionals). Sometimes, even with this percentage, working with a media network can be more profitable than direct monetization through your AdSense account.

It is easier for small channels to choose media networks, if only because their requirements for the number of views are much lower than YouTube. In addition, you won't have to fiddle with AdSense settings, which can have a very significant impact on your income. If you have a large channel with a lot of views, and you want to control everything yourself, then choose monetization through AdSense.

If you were kicked out of the affiliate program, then don’t lose your spirit and continue to live on YouTube and turn on monetization.

1. Boycott advertisers on YouTube

On YouTube, a massive purge of channels began in April 2017 due to the fact that large advertisers saw their advertisements on extremist YouTube channels, where “militants” with weapons sit and talk about their holy war. Advertisers announced a boycott of YouTube and demanded that they provide them with accurate data on which channels their advertisements were shown and demanded that their advertisements never appear on such videos again, and that the names of their companies should not be present in such videos in any way.

YouTube has begun “cleaning” and blocking channels with pirated, extremist content and videos that are not suitable for advertising. The following channels are now deprived of monetization:

  • Vapers (channels where they talk about smoking)
  • Children bullying children in games (I think they're called griefers)
  • Channels discussing politics and inciting farts
  • Monetization is disabled for videos with icons of skulls or faces with acne (images that are not pleasing to the eye)

2. Cleaning up YouTube channels in 2015

Media networks also began the same purge and kicked out a lot of channels from their network. Many channels were blocked, many simply lost their affiliates. In 2015, news channels on YouTube were deprived of monetization. This was written about in the article and. In those times .

This year there is a new wave of channel cleanings.

3. Cleaning channels in the Maker Gen media network

A similar thing, but not due to reasons regarding the boycott on YouTube, happened in the foreign media network Maker Gen (formerly Maker Studios, Maker Max). Their network had 60 thousand channels, and now there are about 1 thousand due to the fact that in 2014 they were bought by the Disney studio for 500 million. The management decided that only large channels would remain in their network, and all small and medium-sized ones would be thrown out of their network so as not to waste time and money on small channels that constantly write to them “rate my channel” and other nonsense that only wastes employees’ time all day long. Such channels bring online less than $100, and they ask a lot of questions.

This is the letter that came to everyone who was kicked out of the Maker Gen media network.

4. Enable monetization through AdSense

So, if you were kicked out of the affiliate program, then go to the Status and functions of your YouTube channel and see if it says Affiliate Verified at the top of the page.

Also go to the “Video Upload” page in the CHANNEL menu and enable monetization by checking the “Monetize by displaying ads” checkbox and click “Save” at the top right.

Now the monetization checkbox will be enabled.

So, today's topic is Youtube monetization. How much do they pay for views of your videos? The question is not posed entirely correctly: you need to understand that you do not receive money for the views themselves. Revenue comes from ad impressions and clicks on ads displayed in your videos. And now the details.

You can make good money. Is it true.

First of all, I will say that to make money on a Youtube channel you do not need to have a huge number of video views per day. Nobody talks about the profitability of advertising on YouTube, they can only tell you the approximate income from the channel (read).

I'll show you an actual screenshot of the cost of advertising on one of the channels and you can.

What is shown in this picture?

  • Advertising type.
  • Advertising cost per 1000 views.
  • Total profitability (percentage of advertising from the total income of the channel).

Well, what do you think of the numbers? Are they impressive?

If you do not understand how the presented types of advertising differ, we will talk about this separately (use the site search to read more about advertising).

I want that kind of income! What do we have to do?

If you decide to start making money on YouTube, then be prepared for several important points:

  1. You will need to work systematically and follow the work schedule you created. This will take a little time, but regularly.
  2. Don't expect instant or quick results. It will take time. Approximately six months, in some cases the range can be from 3 months to a year to achieve a stable income.
  3. Choose a topic that interests you, do not look at what is interesting to others and what others are doing. There is no need to copy anyone, it is better to be individual and original when working with your YouTube channel.
  4. The most important point: you need to thoroughly study and master the techniques and subtleties of working with Youtube. This site will help you with this and my channel.

What if I don’t know how to shoot videos and edit them?

In this case, try it, it works great on them too. however, you should remember the responsibility for the possible and less reliable nature of such earnings (theoretically, your channel could be blocked for copyright infringement), although hundreds of YouTube channels can earn money this way. There are certain subtleties here, which we will discuss separately.

An alternative is to learn how to shoot your own videos and edit them: it is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. Only in this case it is important not to slide into a dull, boring movie about nothing. You must have a feature, some unique feature that will attract viewers and delight them. Some channels on Youtube, many videos are completely devoid of meaning and content, but viewers like them and get a lot of views, they have their own target audience. This is how you can find your target audience: whether it will be a thinking viewer or someone who only wants bread and circuses.

Today we will talk about how you can make money on your YouTube channel. We will present to your attention ten really working ways to make money on YouTube.

Many people dream of starting their own business using YouTube, but not everyone manages to catch the wave of hype and become a popular video blogger. There can be many reasons for this. For example, people film about something that is interesting only to a small audience of users. To achieve success, you need to put in a lot of effort.

Here, as with the site - you need to create a channel not for making money, but for people. You need to try to make useful and popular content, gain subscribers, and only then think about monetizing the channel. The primary goal is to become popular!

How to become a popular video blogger on YouTube?

Basic rules that are designed to make the channel, and its owner, popular:
  • Original and unique video content;
  • The subject of the channel should arouse the interest of the audience;
  • You need to have your own unique style and flair;
  • Shoot videos that are not too long (5 - 20 minutes);
  • Videos don't have to be boring;
  • Work on improving content (high-quality video and sound);
  • Use advanced programs at work (not free);
  • Post new videos regularly (at least once a week);
  • Conduct audience analytics to know their preferences;
  • Don't forget about keywords and hashtags;
  • Publish only authorized content;
  • Share videos on social media. networks;
  • Interact with viewers.
By following these rules, you can become a successful video blogger. And only after the “hype”, you should think about how to monetize your channel on YouTube.

The best ways to monetize a YouTube channel

Let's move away from the lyrics and consider 10 ways to make money on YouTube. All methods are divided into “Black” and “White”. Fortunately, there are more legal ways, which means that you don’t have to be too afraid and feel free to choose what suits you.

Method number 1. Video Advertising from AdSense

The most popular and accessible way to make money on a YouTube channel. AdSense is the largest advertising network on the Internet. And who do you think it belongs to? Of course, Google. To activate advertising in a video, you need:

1. Find monetization
➧ Go to the “My Channel” menu;

➧ Go to “Creative Studio”;

➧ Click on “Video Manager”, and then on “Video”;

➧ Click on “Channel”;

Method number 2. Cooperation with Media Networks

Which media network to choose? It all depends on your channel and the audience that watches you. Large companies select channels more carefully, which means it is more difficult to get there. There is also no point in meddling with unpopular m-networks, as they can deceive you.

Work on your channel and collaborate only with trusted media networks to avoid unnecessary problems. It’s quite easy to identify a good affiliate program if you know who has been working with it for a very long time.

Examples of cooperation between popular YouTube channels

  • WITH QuizGroup works as a letsplayer and video blogger Ivangai
  • Channel This is good cooperates with the media network FullScreen
  • Monetization telblog.net is engaged GTRussia
The following are also suitable for channels with traffic from CIS countries:
  1. VSP Group;
  2. Scalelab Russia;
  3. X-Media Digital.
To start collaborating with a media network, you need to go to the website and leave a request. Requirements are different everywhere, but usually you need at least 100 subscribers (subscribers) and somewhere around 10,000 views. Channels are also checked for copyright infringement. They look at how many videos have already been posted. They pay approximately $3-5 per 1000 video views.

Method No. 3. Selling advertising space in videos

The most profitable way to make money on YouTube, but it requires more effort than AdSense and media networks combined. First, you need to look for advertisers. And not every major advertiser will work with unpromoted channels. Therefore, this method is more suitable for YouTube channels that are heard by everyone.

Secondly, you need to be creative and present advertising unobtrusively. With humor or with some benefit for the viewer (depending on the audience). Some bloggers tailor the video to the advertisement, and not vice versa. This makes things a little easier.

How is everything going? Typically, managers themselves turn to popular video content creators to promote their product or service. Income from such advertising can reach several hundred thousand rubles (if the video is watched by 2-3 million people).

Method number 4. Donate from streams (donations from viewers)

To understand the essence of this method of making money on YouTube, you need to understand the terms. Donat, in this case, these are monetary donations from viewers. Stream— shooting video in real time (live broadcast). Most often, they stream games. Therefore, this method is very popular among young people and even schoolchildren.

Before receiving money from viewers, you need, of course, to become a popular streamer. Next, on YouTube you need to activate “Live broadcasts” and download the program: Open Broadcaster Software. The next step is to select a service for receiving donations: DonationAlerts. These are just examples, you can look for something else.

Ask, why not just indicate the details (wallet numbers in the description of the stream)? It is important for sponsors, first of all, to show their donation not only to the streamer, but also to other viewers. Ratings are even created for this purpose. The authors willingly share translation statistics and integrate top donors directly into the stream. In addition, benefactors are often thanked for their contributions live, and receiving a “couple of affection” from your favorite streamer is always very nice.

Method No. 5. Affiliate (referral) programs

The easiest way to start making money on YouTube. It doesn’t matter how many subscribers you have or how long ago the channel was created. You can make a review of any site at any time. This can include various online stores, projects for making money on the Internet, service providers... anything where there is a referral or.

Additional ways to make money on YouTube

Well, now, let’s quickly go over five additional ways to generate income from YouTube video hosting:
  • PR manager— even without making a video, you can become someone’s assistant and advertise the channel in different ways, making money from it.
  • Advertising via like— famous bloggers get paid even for giving a like. Some fans watch their favorite videos of idols.
  • Selling goods and services— creating a channel to attract buyers or clients. We promote our brand with the help of videos.
  • Traffic Monetization— creating communities in social media. networks or website (blog) and accumulation of a subscriber base. In the future, their monetization and additional earnings.
  • Video creation and sale— it is not necessary to promote the channel and monetize it. Videos can be produced and sold (before publication).
I talked about 10 legal ways to make money on YouTube, that is, they are officially allowed. There are also so-called “Black” methods of monetization. This includes making money from other people's videos or prohibited types of advertising.

How much can you earn on YouTube?

Adsense video advertising can earn you $2-3 per 1000 views. Again, a lot depends on your audience and channel format. By choosing the right media network, you can earn a little more. On average: $3-5 per 1000 views.

The hype topic is the integration of advertising into videos. We work directly with advertisers. To find out the income from such advertising, you can recall the scandal that broke out between the Nemagiya and Borsch channels in 2018. So, just for one mention of the Borsch channel, the guys from Nemagia received 150 thousand rubles. The advertiser was unhappy with the PR, as the return was almost zero. Very few people subscribed to his channel.

In fact, we can only point our fingers at the sky when talking about YouTube revenue. There are many factors that affect the cost per impression or click. For example:
age, country and even device, seasonality and subject of the channel.

Conclusion

If this video gets trending on YouTube. Oh! What am I talking about? If this article is read and it benefits my readers, then next time I will talk about how to make money on YouTube without making a video. Of course, there is a lot of material on this topic on the Internet, but I will try to add something new and interesting in a future article. Bye everyone.

I promised to share information about the success of monetizing the channel on YouTube - I’m sharing it :) Here is a screenshot of the “megaprofits” for the first day of the channel’s existence.

To be honest, I expected less.

A little information for those who, looking at me, wondered whether they should connect monetization on their channel, and if they connect, then their native YouTube one or join one of the affiliate programs.
For such doubters, I recorded this short video. I will retell only the most important things.

There are only two options for monetizing a channel by displaying advertising: either internal YouTube monetization through linking to Adsense, or one of the partner media networks.

Internal YouTube monetization can be enabled on any channel, even if he has just registered and has zero videos, zero views and zero subscribers. Step-by-step instructions how to enable channel monetization on YouTube, I'll put it under the spoiler.

1. Go to the “status and functions” settings page - https://www.youtube.com/features.
Click on the “Enable” button to the right of the word “Monetization”.

2. On the next page, click the blue “Enable monetization on my channel” button.
In the page that appears, check all three points of the agreement and click the “I Accept” button.

3. On the next page, again check the 3 boxes and click the “Monetization” button.

4. Monetization is enabled. All you have to do is link your channel to your Google Adsense account.
This is done on the page https://www.youtube.com/account_monetization?action_adsense_connection=1

Once there, click the “Next” button below and either create a new account in Adsense, or link the channel with an existing account.

If instead of the "Enable" button in the first step of the instructions you see the message " This service is not available in your country", this means that your settings most likely indicate Russia or Ukraine.
Change the country at the bottom of the page to USA.

Now you can enable monetization, and after that, if you wish, return the country back.

If you already have a well-promoted channel, you can connect it to one of the partner media networks.
The most popular of them: AIR, ATG Media, Quiz Group, VSP.
I will tell you more about working with affiliate programs later.

But if your channel:
a) less than 30 days
or
b) he has less than 40 subscribers
or
c) the channel does not get 3000 views per month,
That no affiliate will be interested in you. All you can do is enable internal YouTube monetization.

True, there are certain risks. I talk about them in the video.

Well, that's enough for today. I've already earned my 24 cents :)
